From November 26th to 30th, 2023, Al Salam Al Assima Hospital transformed into a hub of excitement and learning during its dynamic Safety Week. The event, strategically designed to enhance safety awareness, featured an array of interesting and fun-filled activities, captivating both the dedicated staff and the wider community. The week kicked off with engaging workshops and training sessions, covering essential safety topics, from emergency preparedness to infection control. However, what set this Safety Week apart was the infusion of lively and interactive activities that aimed to make safety education not only informative but enjoyable. Staff and community members participated in hands-on demonstrations, turning safety drills into engaging challenges.

From fire evacuation simulations to interactive first aid stations, each activity served as a practical learning experience, fostering a culture of safety in an entertaining manner. The hospital's commitment to holistic well-being was further underscored by the inclusion of health and wellness activities. Yoga sessions, stress-relief workshops, and health screenings were seamlessly integrated into the week's agenda, promoting both physical and mental well-being. To encourage community participation, open-house events, safety fairs, and interactive games were organized. These not only brought the hospital staff together but also welcomed members of the community to actively participate in safety-related initiatives. The highlight of the week was a lively closing ceremony, where achievements were celebrated, and participants were acknowledged for their active engagement. The Medical Development Center at Al Salam Hospital conducted First Aid CPR course for teachers and administrative staffs of Ghars Bilingual School from 26th to 30thNovember 2023 at SASH Abdul Rahman Al Ateeqi auditorium, sponsored by KFH. The course was attended by 47 faculty members and aimed to enhance their skills on providing First aid and CPR in case of health emergencies at the workplace.

On November 29 - 30, 2023, the 12th Kuwait Health Conference and Exhibition – Kuwait Medica was held under the patronage of the Minister of Health. Al Salam Al Assima Hospital participated in this conference as a sponsor due to the importance of this conference on a local and regional level due to the hospital administration’s interest in keeping pace with all global medical developments. The medical team provided the necessary medical examinations to the attendees of this event.

Under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Al-Mutawa, Al Salam Al Assima Hospital held an awareness day on the optimal use of antibiotics in line with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization. The Medical Development Center in coordination with Maternity Education Center at Al Salam Al Assima Hospital organized a breast-feeding education session for the hospital’s nurses. The session was attended by 18 staff members and aimed to enhance their knowledge on providing consultation and support for mothers during pregnancy and post-delivery.

The Medical Development Center at Al Salam Al Assima Hospital in collaboration with the Manipal University of India organized an Advanced Surgical Care Course for the hospital’s nurses working in the Medical Surgical Units from 4th to 9th November 2023. The objective of the course was to enhance the skill of nurses in assessing deep wounds, skin tears, ostomies, severe burns, pressure injuries or bedsores, and diabetic foot wounds to deliver high quality nursing services. The course was conducted by Dr. Jyothi Chakravarti, Professor and HOD, Medical Surgical Nursing with more than 20 years of experience in the field of clinical teaching and Mr. Anil Raj, Assistant Professor from Manipal University. Various workshops and OSCE were conducted in real-time scenarios allowing the nurses to be highly competent in rendering patient care and maintaining a degree of excellence. The attendees received a course completion certificate from Manipal University. It was a remarkable experience for our staff in the continuous professional development in shaping their medical career in the field of nursing.

Al Salam Hospital organized an awareness lecture on the importance of early screening for breast tumors by general surgery specialist Dr. Muhammad Athamnah at Kuwait University - College of Administrative Sciences on October 30, 2023. Various lectures were delivered on this disease in the presence of the Health District Director of Mubarak Al Kabeer Dr. Waleed Al Busairi. Kuwait Finance House organized a Breast Cancer Awareness lecture on October 17, 2023, which hosted a group of specialized and distinguished female doctors in this field. In attendance were Dr. Nadia Al Essa (Consultant, Breast Radiology) from Al Salam Hospital, Dr. Dalal Al Aradi (Consultant, General Surgery), Mrs. Moudi Al Saif (Clinical Nutritionist) and a group of breast cancer survivors. The speakers collectively emphasized the importance of early examination to detect diseases to which the breast is exposed to. Al Salam Hospital participated in this event by conducting pressure tests and measuring sugar levels for all the attendees.

On October 16, 2023, Al Salam Hospital coordinated an awareness lecture on the importance of early screening for breast tumors in Hamel Al Misk Bilingual Nursery. Dr. Mohammed Athamna (Specialist, General Surgery) gave an insightful lecture to the students' mothers and female teachers.

October is considered the month of awareness for breast tumors and cancer and based on the social responsibility of Al Salam Al Ahmadi Hospital, the medical staff from the surgery, radiology, and nursing staff, participated in the event (Together to End Breast Cancer) organized by Gate Mall. Al Salam Al Assima Hospital’s Medical Development Center hosted the “Digital Dentistry Course” on August 3rd and September 14th, 2023 from 2pm - 9pm in Abdul Rahman Salem Al Ateeqi auditorium. Due to the importance of educating the community about the harms of smoking to smokers and those around them, Al Salam Al Assima Hospital participated in the celebration of World Anti-Smoking Day under the slogan (Damage of smoking and Electronic Smoking), which was organized by the Kuwait Society for Combating Smoking and Cancer in cooperation with the Community Development Center in Sabah Al-Salem.

In a competitive atmosphere with an unprecedented turnout of around 900 participants from Kuwait, the GCC, as well as various Arab and foreign countries, the KFH Obstacle Challenge "Baitek" was launched, in its second edition, which extended for a full day on the Marina beach. The Third Kuwait International Physiotherapy Conference was held under the slogan Physiotherapy Challenges and Achievements from 6-8/3/2023 at the Symphony Style Hotel.
The event served as a multidisciplinary platform for researchers and practitioners to present and discuss the latest innovations and trends as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of physiotherapy, rehabilitation and occupational therapy.

Chairman of the Kuwait Private Hospital Federation and CEO of Al Salam International Hospital Dr. Ayman Al Mutawa welcomed the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Kuwait Malik Muhammad Farooq and his accompanying delegation on a special visit to the hospital.

During the visit, they discussed various ways of cooperation between the Kuwait Private Hospital Federation and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the private health sector, one of which is in the process of attracting and recruiting of medical & nursing professionals.

Dr. Ayman Al Mutawa praised the role of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in supporting Kuwait’s healthcare sector during the COVID-19 pandemic especially by sending medical personnel to work alongside Kuwaiti medics to provide the necessary medical care in government hospitals in Kuwait. This great move of solidarity has led to the employment of at least 2,800 medical and nursing staff in Kuwait’s government hospitals, a direction the private health sector is eager to work towards achieving so similar talent can be employed to work at their end.

In addition, His Excellency stressed the important role the Pakistani Embassy would play to ensure that highly skilled medical personnel are recruited through government accredited channels in a smooth seamless way.

On his part, the Chairman of the Kuwait Private Hospital Federation confirmed that such interactions between officials and representatives of friendly countries to the private health sector is a fundamental cornerstone for establishing the rules of cooperation and supporting efforts between the two countries in the field of health care. They represent an important opportunity to learn and identify challenges and opportunities available in this field and agree on venues for future cooperation.

Therefore, Al Salam Summer Camp for children aged 7-12 was created to provide children with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and learning in an exciting, interactive, and engaging environment. Children spend quality time exploring different themed activities such as Proper Nutrition, Fitness Exercises, First Aid and Dental Care. We hope to see AL Salam Heroes again at future events.

Based on the strategy of Al Salam International Hospital for Social Responsibility and believing in the importance of first aid and CPR in saving life. Al Salam Hospital held a training course for First Aid and CPR for the employees of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) On Monday, 20/6/2022, the Medical Development Center at Al Salam Hospital presented the most important medical cases that require first aid and performed hands on training for cardiopulmonary resuscitation for the attendees.

Al Salam International Hospital Medical Development Center in liaison with the Manipal University of India organized an Advanced Medical-surgical Nursing course for our nurses from 11th to 16th June at Al Salam hospital with the aim to ensure that nurses stay abreast of current practices, enhance their professional competence, and update their clinical skills. The course was conducted by a team of Associate professors of the Medical-Surgical Nursing Department, Manipal university with more than 15 years of experience in teaching. The content addressed in the course was need-based and the updates in the nursing practice were applicable within the scope of practice. Various evidence-based practices were emphasized, which can develop our staff foreseeing capacity pertaining to quality patient care. The attendees received a course completion certificate from Manipal university after completing the skill test and the exam.

On May 30-31, 2022 The 10th Kuwait Health Conference and Exhibition was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Khaled Al-Saeed.Al-Salam International Hospital participated in this conference as a sponsor of the importance of this conference at the local and Gulf levels, as well as the interest of the hospital management to keep pace with all international medical developments.The hospital team provided the necessary medical examinations to attendiese.

On Date 22.5.2022, Al Salam International Hospital, in collaboration with the Kuwait Central Blood Bank, has launched a Blood Donation Campaign, "Your donation .. is life". Salam International Hospital (SIH) has tested the security and safety plan by conduction practical training on evacuation, in case of fire, and the training was carried out under the supervision of a team from the Kuwait Fire Force (KFF).

‏These courses enable health care providers to recognize, respond to, and manage several life threatening emergencies like sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes or choking. Also it teaches participants needed skills to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies and how to perform CPR and AED use.
